CALM AMSTERDAM
2025

Calm Amsterdam is not just a name.
It’s poetry of thought turned into form. Creativity caught on the edge of a breath, translated into the language of product design. It’s the rhythm of countless hearts — locals, travelers, dreamers — converging on this city to give themselves the freedom to create, to experiment, to be different.
We tried to capture the breath of Amsterdam itself. That fleeting moment when the whisper of bicycle tires glides across wet cobblestones, blending with the heartbeat of a tourist seeing the canals for the first time, or a local rushing to a gallery opening. Together, those sounds form a collective soundtrack of freedom. A soundtrack with no end, only movement — alive, layered, polyphonic, just like Amsterdam itself.
This city has always been more than dots on a map. It’s a magnet for anyone searching for depth beyond the routine work–home–Netflix loop. Amsterdam grants permission — to experiment in art, in life, in yourself. It’s a place that allows you to try, to stumble, to fail, to rediscover, and ultimately to transform accidents into lifestyle.
That very essence — the permission to breathe differently, to live differently — is what we attempted to materialize in a product hypothesis, created together with the creative team at Albert Heijn Labs. The question was disarmingly simple: can you pack the atmosphere of an entire city into the format of a familiar snack?
Our first answer was Calm Amsterdam Cookie — functional bites where protein and fiber meet CBD. A small, unassuming object in your pocket that works not only with the body but with the mind. A product that was never meant to be “just another novelty on the shelves,” but instead, a cultural experiment. And that’s the irony: we were talking about cookies, yet inside them we embedded a philosophy. Perhaps that is the most Amsterdam thing of all — to take something simple and turn it into a metaphor for freedom.
But the story didn’t stop there. In its very DNA, Calm Amsterdam was always larger than one product. It grew into an ecosystem of ideas:
Calm Amsterdam FIT — a line designed for athletes, with no sugar, minimal carbs, and flavors concentrated directly into the dough. A keto-friendly cookie that could move with you, from gym to street, without sticky fingers or distractions. A cookie that supported your body while CBD supported your recovery. In other words, a functional snack that worked almost like a coach in your pocket.
Calm Amsterdam Coffee — a limited series of drip bags infused with dessert-inspired flavors. Apple caramel pie. Creamy vanilla. Blueberry popcorn. Each one born not from random brainstorming, but from the lived experiences of the team — autumn walks, stops at cafés, memories of childhood flavors. Coffee designed not only to energize but to extend the ritual of calm. First the cookie sets your inner rhythm, then the coffee completes the ritual — warmth, familiarity, a sense that everything is in its place.
This duality — body and mind, energy and calm, cookie and coffee — became the soul of the brand. It wasn’t about mass-market launches or chasing trends, but about conducting a cultural experiment in real time. We tested in the streets, at Pride 2025, where honesty and freedom are worn openly. We listened to unfiltered voices, caught spontaneous smiles, and gathered insights that shaped the product’s future. We didn’t chase numbers; we chased real reactions.
And that’s why this case feels different. It’s not a dry report or a polished deck. It’s a story — one that unfolded across 2025 and somehow managed to stand out even among our own projects. A story that brought together cookies with CBD, a FIT line for the gym, and coffee with autumn flavors, woven together with design thinking, cultural context, and a touch of creative audacity.
The result wasn’t just a product; it was a ritual. A way to “legalize calm” in everyday life — whether through a bite after training, a sip on a rainy evening, or simply the knowledge that your snack carries more meaning than calories.
And because the story is so layered, so detailed, it can’t all fit neatly into one page. That’s why, for anyone whose curiosity has been sparked, we invite you to dive into the full case. Trust us: it’s worth it. You’ll find not just a brand concept, but a journey — of people, ideas, experiments, and the city that inspired it all.
